Docker on Azure

Huge enterprises like Spotify, eBay, and PayPal use Docker for accelerated app creation and sharing. A Docker container is a standardized unit of software for development, distribution, and deployment. It packs together the code and its dependencies for a portable, scalable application. The container image is a lightweight standalone unit allowing code to be run in any computing environment.

Docker is compatible with popular tools like Kubernetes, NGINX, mongoDB, and Visual Studio Code (VSC). Docker Hub is the cloud based library of applications for collaborative use. Docker Desktop for local operating systems (OS) is available for individual developer workstations. Azure App Hosting Service hosts web app, REST API,  and mobile backend applications while managing infrastructure.

Docker containerization is an alternative solution to Virtual Machines. Containers share OS kernel resources and are more efficient than VMs. Applications built in Docker are ported between Linux, Windows, and macOS, both virtually and in the cloud. Docker is lightweight and highly scalable, so multiple containers simultaneously run per server or VM instance. Greater resource utilization decreases server costs to increase overall value.

Docker supports continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) DevOps methodology since code is easily shared and utilized. Developers publish their images in Docker Hub to share with other team members.

A Dockerfile script creates container images to build applications, run microservices, and construct big data processing systems. Running standardized environments in each container means no conflict between programming languages and libraries. An API connects isolated container processes as necessary.

Azure App Service quickly creates and deploys scalable mission critical applications so you can grow your enterprise with peace of mind. It is a Managed Service Provider (MSP) for web, mobile, and integration environments. Choose to scale up or out with the Umbraco Accelerator. It is updated from .NET Framework to .NET Core and runs 100% on ASP.NET Core. Configured to restart and ready to launch out of the box.

Ntegral certified images are always up-to-date, secure, and built to work right out of the box.

Ntegral packages applications following industry standards, and continuously monitors all components and libraries for vulnerabilities and application updates. When any security threat or update is identified, Ntegral automatically repackages the applications and pushes the latest versions to the cloud marketplaces.
